On those days when you want just to disappear into a book,  affogato is your best bet.  Strong hot espresso and cold sweet gelato combines the best of both worlds – kind of like being happily melancholy.

RAINY DAY AFFOGATO

Affogato instantly ups your coffee game Italian style.  Steaming hot espresso poured over ice cold gealto – that’s it technically.  But for those us who aren’t purists, a dab of whipped cream is always a welcomed addition.

Instructions

Put the gelato into a heat proof glass.  Pour espresso on top.  If you feel the urge, top with whipped cream.   Eat. Drink.  Enjoy slowly.
